Sandy comes from a musical family and sang in choirs throughout her school years. Since her college days she was the lead singer for several "rock bands" before she mellowed out and started Heart 2 Heart with Dana. She is an attorney by day, singer by night. Dana has been performing publicly since he was 15. His keyboard talents have been featured in rock groups, dance bands, electronic trios, and even a jazz quartet. He enjoys the intimacy that the Heart 2 Heart setting offers. How did you get started as a musical duo? We played together for years in a five-piece rock band called "Class Action." We would sometimes play a tune together at the end of a set, and we always wanted to do more as a duo. After we both left the band, we focused our musical energy on Heart 2 Heart. In 2005, interior designer Linda Mordoh got us our first gig as a duo, performing in the living room of a home featured in the Home-a-Rama. The rest is, as they say, history. Since then, we've performed at weddings, restaurants, fund raisers, anniversary parties, cocktail receptions, and dinners. How would you describe your style of music? We like to say our music is soothing, classy, and romantic. Our song selections span a number of categories. We can do soft pop, ballads, jazz standards, and country tunes. If someone desires a special song for their event, we can accommodate that, too. Do you have any interesting projects or news you want to share? We are excited that we will soon have our website up and running. Look for www.heart2heartduo.com in the very near future. In the meantime, we can be contacted through l'Evento, or by email at gozrilla@aol.com or by calling 317-407-2704 For anyone planning a wedding or other event, what makes Heart 2 Heart special? We understand that your event matters. It is about you, not us. Our music compliments rather than dominates. Guests can enjoy themselves and have a conversation without competing with the music. People also often comment on how much they enjoy our song selections. All ages enjoy our music. Heart 2 Heart is not a dance band... we fit perfectly during the cocktail reception and dinner hour. Then, a dance band or DJ can take over! What are people most surprised to learn about you two? The fact that we are not married. We are not even a couple. We are musical partners! ![]() Diane Couch So tell me about SofaTown Designs Art Studio - are you an artist, jewelry designer, or furniture store? Diane: How about two out of three? I'm an artist and a jewelry designer. I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Indiana State University, majoring in studio art and metalsmithing. I then apprenticed as a bench jeweler. I've been designing and selling my own line of jewelry since 1982. SofaTown Designs has nothing to do with a furniture store! It's simply a play on words with my last name, as I often have to spell it for people. I tell them, "couch like sofa." Then as a jewelry designer, what kind of jewelry do you make? Diane: My early work included gold and sterling silver earrings, rings, brooches and bracelets. Then in 1996 I put my torch down and as a change of pace began stringing freshwater pearls and semi-precious gemstones. I hand-knot each necklace using natural beige silk cord from Germany. The simple classic designs are perfect for any occasion as well as for bridal jewelry, especially since I'm able to customize special orders to fit the occasion. Current designs can be seen on my website, www.sofatowndesigns.com. Do you have any new designs or special projects for 2010? Diane: Yes! Last year, as a departure from the hand-knotted jewelry, I began a new series of necklace, bracelet, and earring designs that I call The Mineral Series. I'm going back to working with sterling silver by combining various types of chain with unusual stones. I am continuing to develop new designs for The Mineral Series and have been updating my website's "new work" page with each new design. Where in the Indianapolis area is your jewelry available for sale? Diane: At Artifacts Gallery in Broad Ripple, and l'Evento Boutique in Carmel's Arts & Design District. I also meet with clients by appointment. Check my website for further information and photos of all my jewelry designs! Do you have any upcoming events or news you'd like to share? Diane: Actually, for the first time ever, I'll have a booth at the Prefect Wedding Guide Bridal Show. The date is Sunday, February 21, 2010 at the Montage on Allison Pointe. I'm excited about doing the show. Please tell your family and friends to stop by and see me and my line of jewelry! l'Evento Professional Member Aaron Mitchell of Capture Hour Productions recently posted a new 2009 wedding highlight reel to Facebook.
